Where Is Bitcoin Cheapest Right Now? Cross-Exchange Price Comparison
Bitcoin trades at slightly different prices on every exchange. These price differences create opportunities for arbitrage traders and savings for regular buyers. Here is how to find the cheapest Bitcoin at any given moment.
Why Bitcoin Prices Differ Across Exchanges
Each exchange is its own marketplace with its own supply and demand dynamics:
- Different user bases: Coinbase serves primarily US retail, Binance serves global traders
- Fee structures: Higher-fee exchanges sometimes show higher prices
- Liquidity depth: More liquid exchanges (Binance) have tighter spreads
- Deposit/withdrawal access: Regulatory restrictions in certain regions create price differences
- Market making activity: Different market makers on each platform
Typical Price Differences
On any given day, you might see:
- Binance BTC: $67,450
- Kraken BTC: $67,520 (0.10% higher)
- Coinbase BTC: $67,580 (0.19% higher)
- OKX BTC: $67,470 (0.03% higher)
- KuCoin BTC: $67,440 (0.01% lower)
The cheapest exchange changes throughout the day. There is no single exchange that is always cheapest.
How to Find the Best Price
Method 1: Use Our Dashboard
Our Arbitrage Pairs page compares BTC prices across all major exchanges in real-time. It shows you which exchange is cheapest and which is most expensive at any moment.Method 2: Check Aggregators
Websites like CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko show prices per exchange, but they do not factor in fees. Always add trading fees to the comparison.Method 3: Manual Comparison
Open multiple exchange tabs and compare ask prices. The ask price is what you actually pay when buying.Important: Factor In the Total Cost
The cheapest exchange by price is not always the cheapest total cost. Consider:
- Trading fees: 0.075% on Binance vs 0.60% on Coinbase
- A $67,450 BTC on Binance costs $67,450 + $50.59 fee = $67,500.59
- A $67,450 BTC on Coinbase costs $67,450 + $404.70 fee = $67,854.70
Even if Coinbase showed a $50 lower price, Binance would still be cheaper after fees.
